The first written record of comunities in region of Púchov's valley dates from 1471. Several archeological finds proof, that this region was settled far before this year.
The land that was protected by mountain ranges Biele Karpaty and Javorníky was suitable for people in the stone age. The evidence of this are mammoth's bones, a shoulder blade of a deer and an antler of a reindeer that were found in Púchov's rock and stone tools found in Horné KoŔkovce. The most remarcable finds from period of paleolit and neolit were made by baron Emil Friedrich Johannes Hoening O Carrol in the area of Púchov's rock. This explorer born in Hildesherm, that lived in the 19th century in Púchov, where he is burried as well, interested in the period of Púchov's culture - from the 2nd century B.C. till the 3rd cestury A.D.
